Finally got a permit. I hiked over Redd Gap pass, very dramatic and breathtaking. Experiencdd the power of the mountains. Thought about stone giants and bigfoot. It had a slightly forboding feel. My permit blew off in the wind.  Camped at the foot of Elizabeth lake. Hiked out to there, saw rangers on horseback, met a hike couple, who were reallyy sporty, one was a diver, the other a swimmer, then two women, both runners, then Outtro came by, whom had seen  earlier and had met on the PCT last year! She is cool, even has a sponsor! She is doing the CDT this year and will Triple Crown! Outro’s blog
